Abstract

This research is entitled Aesthetics of Gandrung Marsan Dance by Subari Sofyan. The Gandrung Marsan dance by Subari Sofyan is known as a dance of resistance efforts against the Dutch colonialists. Gandrung Marsan Dance has very unique movement patterns that do not exist in other Gandrung Dances. This is what attracts researchers to study it with the formulation of the problem How is the aesthetics of the Gandrung Marsan dance by Subari Sofyan. Using the framework of aesthetic concepts according to jenntik consisting of: 1) Shape 2) Weight and 3) Appearance. The results obtained that the movements in the Gandrung Marsan Dance have a movement pattern that tends to be dashing and sweet, so that it gives a masculine and feminine impression.
